Heels. The molded rubber full heels shall be of a commercial washer or plastic core type construction, 5/8 to 3/4 inch in height, _ with smooth or textured tread. The rubber shall be synthetic, black in color, of a non-marking composition and shall have an abrasion index of not less than 90.
Insoles. The insoles may be leather or synthetic and cut to properly fit the shoe.
Shank. The shank may be made from reinforced steel or fused fiberglass. The shank shall conform to the contractor’s last.
Counters. The counters shall be of a stiffening material to reinforce the heel to prevent sagging and loss of shape.
Eyelets. The flat flange type eyelets shall not be visible on the outside of shoe.
Laces. The round laces shall be nylon and in a black shade. The length of the laces shall be a minimum of 20 inches.
Lasts. The shoes shall be made with the contractor’s lasts, standard patterns, dies and markers.
Workmanship. After completion, the shoes shall be thoroughly cleaned and all foreign matter removed. The shoes shall be uniform quality and shall be free from irregularities or defects which adversely affect performance, reliability or durability.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain inspection records indicating that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID, and that the Product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Quality assurance provisions:
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract of purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the Performance of all inspection requirements as specified in the CID.
The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specifications where such action is deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The contractor is responsible for insuring that components and materials used were manufactured, examined, and conforms with the requirements as specified in this CID.
